STEVE CARELL IS FUNNY

GET SMART, however, was not. Very bad movie. Stupid. Ugly looking. Pitiful direction. Lazy scripting. It has three or four funny lines, a few good scenes, but overall...wow...what suckage. The only thing that kept me in the theater was Carell. He's a funny, funny man.

Couldn't agree more...a friend and I were bored last week and I got talked into seeing this...kept nodding off, but what I was conscious for seemed absolutely dreadful. Just plain not funny. At all. I've loved and trusted Ebert for years, but after his trifecta this summer of giving good reviews to this, Indy, and The Happening...I am starting to take his opinions with a big 'ol grain of salt.

Very encouraged by your reaction to Hancock. I'm on vacation on Martha's Vineyard and have yet to see it, or Wanted. Looking forward to getting caught up when I'm back in the city next week.

Hope your transition is going well...

Transition is indeed going well.

Hancock is the most underrated big-budget movie in years. Don't get the critical scorn places on it. I loved it. Truly unique and a lot of fun.

Seeing Wanted today...

Haven't seen The Happening...will wait for DVD...
