THE SPIRIT

  1. It looks well designed....like 300 and Sin City, but I wasn't that impressed with Sin City in the end ,and I absolutely loathed every second of 300, so my enthusiasm for The Spirit is muted, at best.

  2. I thought both Sin City and 300 were brilliant.

    Why did you loathe 300?

  3. Once the novelty of the way it LOOKED was out of the way, I found it beyond dull. The slo-mo of the action sequences didn't generate anything except tedium, which left me to focus on the poorly drawn characters, the been-there plotting, and A WHOLE LOT OF YELLING. I was pulling my hair out the whole time.

  4. Interesting. I found them both to be thrillingly visceral movie experiences. I saw them both 4 times in the theater. Cinematic gluttony, yes, I know, but that's me when I love something.

  5. Hey, more power to ya. I'm pretty clearly in a minority here, so if you enjoyed it, why not see it alot, especially in the theatre where you can get the visuals on a big screen.

  6. 300 on the IMAX was an experience.

Sin City was narratively richer than 300 but I got off on the visuals in a big way.

Have you seen Southland Tales? I am dying to talk to people about it.
