Off-topic: Today, Dad randomly bought "The Road" on DVD, which neither of us had seen.
It's now been three hours since we finished, and I've thought of little else. The film is one of those works of art that fully and completely deserves the term "masterpiece." For me, it's a bloody battle between that and "Precious" (also a masterpiece) for title "the best film from 2009," but needless to say, any doubts I had were kaput within two or three minutes. It grabs you and pulls you in. I'll be watching it over and over and over, ad nauseam.
I have revisited the film numerous time since I saw it in the theaters. It is indeed a masterwork and one of the defining American films of the last 10 years.
