MOVIES FOR THE WEEKEND

Lots of new releases and other titles I need to catch up with. But with the arrival of our new kitten, Gus (named after Richard Pryor in Superman III), I'll likely only get to one movie this weekend. That'll more than likely be Funny People. Julie & Julia and G.I. Joe will both be happening soon. From Netflix is Big Man Japan.

That is the cutest cat ever, Nick.

And I'm hoping to see GI Joe later this morning, but my thoughts will have to wait till Sunday late afternoon/early evening regardless, as I'll be out of town this weekend. I think Sommers will give us a burst of stupid, moronic fun. Not Transformers 2 level, but that's perfectly fine with me.

Yeah...isn't he amazing?!

I am looking forward to GI Joe just on the basic principle that it is a GI Joe movie -- seeing childhood toys come to life on the big screen will always be appealing to me. And yeah, we can't always get a popcorn-masterpiece like TF2, so if Joe is half as much fun as Bay's magnum opus, it'll be a fun way to kill 2 hours.

Joel -- did you see Funny People yet? If so, your thoughts...

No, haven't seen Funny People just yet. Missed it, sadly. And I don't know, with all the movies coming out in August, that I will see it in theaters. Might be one of the many that I check out on DVD.

Totally unrelated, but I watched Bowling for Columbine last week and am still thinking about it. I'm a Republican (didn't much like Bush though, strangely), but I think Moore was on to something (biased though he is). Your thoughts on that movie?

Columbine, much like the rest of Moore's work, was great.
