MOVIES FOR THE WEEKEND

I'll be seeing Inglorious Basterds this afternoon -- as always with Q.T., I'm looking forward. Though his last effort, Death Proof, really left me cold...

From Netflix is The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, with Sienna Miller and Peter Sarsgaard.

I've been on a DVD-roll of late; have mini-reviews for The Last House on the Left, Speed Racer, Julia, The Class, and Outlander coming up. Also, next week I'll be posting my summer movie wrap up, along with a preview of this coming fall's offerings.

Seeing The Basterds in exactly 3.5 hours. Can't wait. Reviews have been highly promising. Like this one: http://www.themovieboy.com/reviews/i/09_inglouriousbasterds.htm

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Speed Racer, as you gave no hints about whether you liked it or hated it or what. I truly hated that one.

I didn't like it, didn't hate it. Very ambitious overall. I thought it failed as a kids movie but I'd be lying if I said that the visuals and the overall execution weren't interesting and in some ways groundbreaking. I'd give it a C, but would still recommmend it to anyone who was curious or to anyone with a Blu Ray player because the colors popped off the screen in a way that I've never experienced with a DVD before.

Just saw The Basterds. Brilliant stuff, being my first Tarantino flick. Christoph Waltz was something else as Hans Landa. Richly textured movie. Gloriously violent.
