MOVIES FOR THE WEEKEND

I want to see Brothers and The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Not sure which one I'll get a chance to see. Hopefully both. I've seen the original Brothers, directed by Susanne Bier, and it was a great movie.

Nothing from Netflix for the weekend. I received (and watched) Monsters, Inc. last night and found it to be extremely enjoyable -- no big surprise considering it's done by the guy who directed Up.

The Bad Lieutenant and The Road still haven't opened up in my area. Fucking annoying.

Same deal here. Several screens of New Moon. Throw a rock and hit that movie. But no Lieutenant. No Road. No Coen Bros either!

I'm headed to see "Fantastic Mr. Fox" here in about thirty minutes. I'll let you know what I think of it. Also, I watched the critically acclaimed "Hunger" last night, as a part of catching up with 2009 titles that I missed. Brilliant film, Nick. Check it out. "Goodbye Solo" is tonight. In fact, I have about 35 movies, give or take a few, that I will be seeing this month. Time to catch up.

Okay, "Fantastic Mr. Fox" is right there with "Up" and "Coraline," Nick. Pretty much groundbreaking and a new step forward for stop-motion animation style. That and the voice work is very nearly awards-worthy, and it's one of the funniest movies of the year. GREAT STUFF.

Oh and for the record, re: "Monsters, Inc."--some people find "Cars" to be the most overlooked Pixar movie, others "A Bug's Life." For me, it's "Monsters, Inc." which is utterly delightful. I watch it constantly with my nephew, as it is his favorite "cartoon." :)

Haven't seen An Education. Or Mr. Fox. Seeing Brothers tomorrow. I really want to see both Education and Fox, but there's also The Road and Bad Lieutenant, neither of which are playing near me. I feel way behind. I might have to drive to NYC in the next week or so and do a double feature of The Road and Lieutenant.
