QUICK COMMENTS: THERE WILL BE BLOOD
Paul Thomas Anderson is a genius. Every film he has made is a masterpiece. THERE WILL BE BLOOD (****) is his finest work of all time. Daniel Day Lewis' performance as Daniel Plainview, is, in a word, unforgettable. Paul Dano is stunning in a career making turn. Robert Elswit's elegant, wondrous cinematography fills the frame with beauty in a way you rarely see. Jack Fisk, the legendary production designer of DAYS OF HEAVEN and THE NEW WORLD (just to name a few), sets an amazingly physical tone that's just right for this sort of muscular piece of storytelling. Everything that this film offers is perfect; Anderson is fast becoming the most important filmmaker of his generation. The final 30 minutes are some of the best minutes I've ever spent in a movie theater. Ever. In my entire life. Bold, uncompromising, and nothing short of a tour de force, THERE WILL BE BLOOD is one of the best and most ambitious films of 2007.

Thanks Miss Kitty; check out the post beneath this one...it's my fiance's picks for the best of the year. I tried bringing a female perspective to this blog, which is heavily saturated with masculine insights and filmic point of reference. Thanks for reading and enjoying...if you're just finding this blog now I started it last September and have written close to 25 reviews and have made many posts in general. I look forward to hearing from you again!
