WOW
CLOVERFIELD is an experience. Wild, insane, totally absurd, and completely incredible. I loved this film; it's the true product of a new filmmaking generation, and wham-bam action aside, it acts as a sly comment on the twenty-something culture in today's society. I am not suggesting that CLOVERFIELD is some deep, thoughtful examination of the modern psyche or anything like that; it's just better and richer than some people have suggested. But for what it wants to do, which is to throw the viewer directly into ground zero during a truly epic battle with a giant monster, well, this movie totally nails it. My full review will be up soon. A crazy, crazy flick.

Awesome. Can't wait to see it myself and for the full review.
It's a blast. I can't wait to see it again. Ten times better as an overall movie than I ever thought it would be. Was concerned that it was a marketing hook in search of a movie; it's not.
I think Rob Zombie and Eli Roth should be forced to watch this so they learn how to make a real scary movie.

The monster/action parts of this movie are fine, but there is no 'sly comment on the twenty-something culture in today's society'. You're projecting irony into a movie that has none. The filmmakers expect us to like and respect these people and don't realize how shallow and phony they are.
If it had actually been 'crazy' it could have been a good movie.
Also, every movie that Eli Roth and Rob Zombie have made, with the exception of House of a Thousand Corpses, are better than this movie, which is kind of a strange comparison to make anyway. Cloverfield has nothing in common with their films.
I am sorry we don't share the same opinoin. Suggesting that Hostel Part 2 and Zombie's Halloween are better than Cloverfield is reason enough for me not to delve into an immediate response.
