DVD ROUND UP COMING UP

I've been busy with Netflix the last few weeks, and I will be posting a DVD round up piece in the next few days.

On deck will be mini-reviews of MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY (***), YOUNG @ HEART (****), BIGGER, STRONGER, FASTER (****), THE HAPPENING (ZERO), THE VISITOR (****) and HAROLD & KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANOMO BAY (**1/2).

A full review of Ridley Scott's BODY OF LIES (***1/2) is also in the works.

Stay tuned.

Keep em coming.

Zero for "Happening". Jesus. I consider you to be a very positive film writer. So to see no stars on this one...I dunno....I kinda want a long review. hahahahaaa

Shyamalan needs to direct "life of pi" ASAP. Or at least something he didn't write. Just concentrate on bringing a compelling story home.

The Happening was staggeringly awful. Bad on an epic, mind-numbing scale. A side of me just wants to forget about it and pretend that it doesn't exist. A side of me wants to write a dissertation on it. I will meet half-way, I guess. I didn't think it could get worse for Mr. Night than Lady in the Water. I was wrong.

And next up for him is a kid's movie based on a popular Nickelodeon property. That's about all he can get at the moment I'd tend to think.

I skipped both "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening." They both seemed so "meh". That guy has gone way too far up his own ass for his own good.

I agree. I enjoyed all of his work up until Lady and Happening. Unbreakable is still my favorite and I seem to be the only person in the world who liked The Village. It will take a major production for me to get interested in his films again.

I was quite let down by "The Village", but that could be b/c of how it was marketed. I was really wanting that one to just be a scare-fest (there are a sad few of those these days), but I'm not sure why I allowed myself to be led that way, given who we're talking about. I may need another viewing with fresh eyes.

"Unbreakable" is the shit. Definitely my fave of his. And woefully underrated.
