MOVIES FOR THE WEEKEND

I bow at the altar of Tony Scott, so I am more than excited for his latest feature, The Taking of Pelham 123. I'll be seeing it Saturday afternoon. Can't wait. It looks completely and utterly bad-ass.

From Netflix I've got this past winter's political thriller/actioner The International with Clive Owen. Looking forward to that shoot-out in the Guggenheim Museum.

I still want to see Land of the Lost despite the bad reviews...something tells me I'll be waiting for DVD so that I can pummel myself with substances while watching it. It'll probably go down easier that way...same with Drag Me to Hell.

I was kind of turned off to the entire idea of a remake of Pelham. The original is just so damn good. Everything about the original is perfect in every single way.

But...I will most likely give this remake of Pelham a shot. It does look decent. Probably it will be a "wait for dvd" for myself.

Just got The International from Netflix as well. I've heard good things about the flick, but even better things about that shootout.

"pummel myself with substances" - lol. Good one.

I love the films of Tony Scott. For me, he makes the best adult action movies this side of Michael Mann. I liked the original Pelham but I don't think it's as amazing as many others do. It's a solid genre film. But from what I've read, this movie is its own thing.

I am a big fan of Tom Twyker, the director of The International. Did you see Perfume: The Story of a Murderer? It's a masterpiece. Bizzare to be sure, but an incredible piece of filmmaking. One of the decade's more underrated efforts.

Yeah...something tells me that a movie that features a hallucinating Will Ferrell and Danny McBride while trying to out-run dinosaurs might benefit from some extreme libation.

Like Mr. Caution, I'm a big fan of the original "Pelham", but Scott and Denzel usually yield interesting things, even though I grow weary of Tony Scott's recent "City of God" wannabe-isms. Reviews make it sound promising.

"Land of the Lost" --- ain't gonna happen. I love select Ferrell and McBride projects, but this looks like one of those where they amuse each other more than us.

Can't wait for Pelham. Gonna be a really stylish.

International is excellent. And the shootout is every bit as impressive as the one in Heat, imo. The films are not equal (not even close), but those scenes are.

Land of the Lost should be avoided, but at the same time, I want you to see it, Nick, so that I have thoughts from you, lol. I despised everything about it.

Land of the Lost isn't fit to lick the sweaty scrotum of Drag Me To Hell.

Don't put them in the same sentence, or the same category.

I love Tony Scott too, but last night I tried to watch Domino for the third time. Still can't make it through. Kramer's Running Scared is a far superior film.

I loved Running Scared but loved Domino even more. I love gonzo action movies. Domino is a masterpiece in my estimation.

Did you see Perfume: The Story of a Murderer?.

Yes....it was good. Although I enjoyed Run Lola Run and The Princess and the Warrior much more.

I'm also in the "it's so-so" camp on Domino. Even a cameo by Tom Waits couldn't make me LOVE that movie. But it's not horrible either.
