MOVIES FOR THE WEEKEND

Whip It. Zombieland. Capitalism: A Love Story. The Invention of Lying. I will be seeing all of these movies. On DVD in a few months. I'll also be waiting for Surrogates to hit DVD.

The new Coen brothers movie, A Serious Man, opens in limited release; it'll be a few weeks before I'm able to see it around these parts.

No trips to the multiplex planned for this weekend. Lots of DVD's to catch up with. Still have Lymelife from Netflix, and I plan on hitting up Blockbuster and renting Away We Go, Management, and maybe The Brothers Bloom.

Seeing 'Zombieland" and "The Invention of Lying" today, actually. They look terrific. "A Serious Man" next week possibly.

Oh and have you heard about "Paranormal Activity"? This thing sounds freakin' terrifying. It's like "The Blair Witch Project" or "Cloverfield," where a camera crew films something horrifying to a group of people. But supposedly it's the scariest movie ever made. I know you're not into horror films, but it's been getting raves across the board and has just spread across to a bunch of major cities in the form of midnight showings. I plan to see it at some point.

Definitely want to see Paranormal -- it'll be another DVD for me. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Zombie/Lying.

I am extremely anxious for A Serious Man.

Just checked out "Zombieland" and man, it's up there as one of the most balls-out fun movies of the year. Not smart beyond the cool ways to rekill a zombie and in the way the finale plays out, but it's just all-around a great entertainment. Woody Harrelson is the man; he's excellent as Tallahassee.

Seeing "The Invention of Lying" tonight with some family. Tell you all about afterwards. Just keep an eye on this comment thread.

Oh...forgot to mention the best cameo of the year: Bill Murray. Watch out for him. HILARIOUS.
