Another weekend with no trips to the theater. That changes next weekend with the arrival of Where The Wild Things Are. I'll be seeing it in IMAX. And I am expecting to have nothing less than a religious experience in the auditorium. I also found out that the new Coen brothers movie, A Serious Man, is opening on 10/23 in my neck of the woods. I'll buy my tickets as soon as they go on sale.
From Netflix I've got The Assassination of a High School President. It sounds like it could be some dark fun.
Still lots to catch up with on DVD so maybe something else will find its way into the viewing rotation...
I've also got tons on my DVR -- last night's FlashForward, last night's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, this past Wednesday's Top Chef, and this past Tuesday's Hell's Kitchen,

I'm headed to see "Paranormal Activity" and "Whip It" today. Next weekend will be huge, as I believe I will be seeing "A Serious Man." If not, I'll be catching up with "Surrogates." And I'm seeing "Where the Wild Things Are" with a couple friends, I believe. Can't wait.
And you know, I'm largely unmoved by "FlashForward" thus far. Not that it's bad per se, but I think it's trying too hard to be the next "Lost," which is damn-near freakin' impossible. But it's ludicrously fun to watch, so I'm sticking with it. I think it's mildly overhyped and I have some major problems with the internal logic of what goes on, but at least it's not as wildly, unbelievably overrated, with soap-opera-level acting and overcooked dialogue, as "Trauma," which I've already given up on two episodes in. I may give it a third shot (it's my way of judging how shows will turn out), but if it doesn't improve upon its status as an "ER" clone, I won't watch it anymore.
Okay, last night's "FlashForward" was 100% great TV. This show is getting better and better. Watch out for the last five minutes. There's a development that turns everything on its ear, and things we learn throughout the episode all come together and make perfect sense.
I'm looking forward to Paranormal Activity -- look forward to your thoughts. It's not playing near me...yet...
I have been loving FlashForward...watching the most recent episode soon...
"Paranormal Activity" is, bar none, the most frightening experience I've ever had watching a movie. I know that you're not a fan of horror films...but this is not a horror film...at least not of the normal definition for "horror film." My review is up over at ze blog. Check it out.
"Whip It" was actually a really charming and sweet film, I thought. B+ maybe...? Something like that.
wow -- can't wait to see it! i'll check out your review soon...
Nick- what's going on man, it's Josh Lynn. Long time no talk. Where are you right now? I just got on twitter, and saw you on here, saw you weren't in LA anymore, just wanted to see what you were up to...
Wow...Josh Lynn...what's going on?! Still writing @ Disney? I moved back to CT and got married this past June...working at an Ad Agency as an Account Executive...just wasn't feeling Hell-A, er, L.A. any more. How are things? I don't really do the Twitter thing -- the blog is more than I can handle at the moment :) Hope to see you around these parts more often!
That's awesome man, congrats! Yeah, LA can definitely be a big pain in the ass, nice to see other things were important to you too. Then again, I'm still sensing there's some movie left in you, judging by your blog! Which I've read a bunch of posts on-- Serious Man is the best movie of the year, you're gonna love it.
I'm still here in LA, writing and doing a little on the business side of the movies too now for a change. I don't often get out to CT, but if you're ever back in LA visiting, you gotta find me. In the meantime, I'll keep up with the blog!
