BOURNE IN IRAQ

http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809976147/video

Looks appropriately bad-ass. Paul Greengrass (Bloody Sunday, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) doesn't mess around. This should be sweet.

Hey Nick. Quick question for you. Sorry that it's off topic for this post.

I just want the opinion of somebody not trying to sell me something.

How big an improvement is blu-ray over regular DVD? I'm thinking of getting a player for Christmas, but I'm not sure if it's worth it or not.

Any and all info is appreciated.

I love my Blu Ray player. I wasn't sold on it until my wife got me a player of my own. Now -- my TV isn't true 1080 (I'm rockin 720 right now) so when I make that upgrade, the quality will be even better. Same with the surround sound set-up; I have 5.1 dolby digital surround but it's not compatible with my new Blu Ray. So, given that I am using a Blu Ray without using the highest rez TV, and it still looks great, I'd say make the upgrade. I think the difference is very noticable. And you can still play (an upconvert) your regular DVD's on the Blu Ray machine.

Also, some of the Blu Ray-only special features that appear on certain discs are really cool.

Overall, and now especially that you can get a good player for near or under $200, I'd say make the switch.

Jack, I know you didn't ask me, but also, a PS3 is BluRay capable and from what I've seen of regular BluRay's, its quality is even better. The system is already HD, but the addition of the 1080 makes it even more mindblowing. Just my two cents. (And there is no rule that says you can't buy a PS3 solely for using BluRay DVD's. It's why my dad bought the damn thing.)

I think you've nudged me over the edge.

Joel,

Thanks for the info. I'll think about that as well.

Thanks both of you guys for the time.
