I'm sadly not going to be able to see "Slumdog," "Australia," "Nothing but the Truth," "Defiance," or "Milk" any time soon. I'm seeing "Quantum of Solace" on Saturday.

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Revolutionary Road" are on the top of my list. They're, like, on a different level of anticipation for me.

My December will be BUSY, because I'm seeing "Curious Case" and "Road," as well as all the others on your list (minus the five listed above--at least THIS year). December's going to be a make-or-break month for major Oscar contenders.

Why won't you be able to see Slumdog, Australia, Truth, Defiance, or Milk? Australia opens wide on 11/26. Milk goes wide in early December. Slumdog should be out wide by the end of November. Truth will open limited but then expand. Defiance opens wide in early January after a one-week Oscar qualifying run in NY & LA.

Button looks staggering; I hope it's Fincher's year. And I love Mendes so RR looks to be a solid bet.

And yes, the studios are waiting on a lot of their prestige films until December...should be a very interesting last month and a half at the theaters.

I've got a really tight schedule the week of Thanksgiving, and "Slumdog" doesn't come out today in Fort Wayne, IN (where I reside). "Truth" doesn't come out in Fort Wayne at all, as far as I can tell (though it looks very good, for sure). As for Defiance, it won't come out in my hometown (just above Dallas) until January 16, right in the middle of J-term at my university. (I'm a freshman in college at the moment.)

And "Curious Case" looks like an utter masterpiece. Been looking forward to this film since...well...a year ago, when I heard about it. And RR also looks like a masterpiece. Can't remember a stronger trailer for anything in a long time. If the film is half as good, it'll be the best of 2008.

Hey have you checked out "Slumdog" yet? Can't wait to see your "Quick Thoughts." :P

Slumdog hasn't opened yet where I live. The moment it is playing near me I will be checking it out.

On tap for this weekend is Role Models and Quantum of Solace.
