SOBERING
Stephen Daldry's THE READER (****) was excellent, and better than I expected it to be. It's very erotic, very sad, and extremely well acted. It's not necessarily my favorite movie of the year, but I found it highly involving all throughout and fairly thought provoking by its conclusion. Much like Daldry's last film, THE HOURS, THE READER is a fairly depressing drama that I am glad I got a chance to see, but it's not the sort of film that I will re-watch over and over again in the future. That being said, it's definitely one of the stronger films of the year.
