CHARMING

Adventureland is sweet, honest, witty, and very well acted. Extremely entertaining overall and as good as the reviews had indicated. It's not a blow-your-mind type thing but it goes down easy and smooth and is just a pleasure to be around. Also, it's got a fantastic 80's soundtrack.

Well said Nick. I enjoyed this one very much. The story was strong enough, not a lot there, but strong enough. The acting was a bit one-note at times, but I do enjoy the more realistic characters and relationships of Mottola's Adventureland versus Superbad.

Mottola wrote this one too and I thought he did a nice job. Langauge was more or less natural, though like many of this generation's writers he can get a bit "Gilmour Girls" with his dialogue. While it doesn't have to be Porky's I am not sure why so many writers seem to have to prove their smarts.

All in all Mottola is quickly becoming this generation's John Hughes and I am liking most everything I have seen from him, including Arrested Development, not to mention: National Lampoon's Vacation, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Weird Science, The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Home Alone and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

K-STEW 4 EVER.

She should win the Oscar for this.

Lex -- she was definitely the best I've seen her to date in Adventureland. I'm ready to see her do something drastically different now -- she's got the sullen teen thing down pat. Now it's time to really break out.

And JBird -- nice wrap up. Mottola spoke from the heart with this film, and it shows.

Re: the soundtrack-Not one but two Replacements songs! Good to see The Mats finally well-represented on a film soundtrack...first that hideous scene in Feeling Minnesota where Keanu and Cameron try to sing along to I Will Dare, then that Jennifer Love Hewitt movie which was actually named after their best song...so they put a truncated version over the end titles.
