'BOUT DAMN TIME!

So glad to have FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, and LOST back! And not a moment too soon, b/c I think I'm done with 24. Sadly.

Really? I've been enjoying 24 thus far. Sure, it's beyond asinine, but it's so entertaining.

I am expecting BIG, GREAT things out of Lost this season. And next.

Friday Night Lights started out great last week...when it's on the air there's nothing better.

Still haven't gotten into BSG yet...

I'm definitely Johnny Wetblanket on 24. I was a big fan for a while there. I feel it peaked with that season revolving around that really slimy president and Jean Smart's nutjob first lady. That was a nail-biter of a season, and I haven't been as pleased with it ever since. I think it's getting a little stale. But I'm sure it's going to get awesome now that I'm giving up.

LOST...so great. And agreed, FNL is the best of the best.

BSG is worth your time, but I'm worried that it's starting to fly off the rails a bit.

Have you seen "Che" yet?

Lamentably, I have not seen Che yet, though have heard a rumor that it's now avail on IFC ON DEMAND. I need to check my listings tonight. And then find four hours of my life where I can sit back and watch it. I am very anxious to see this film.

The season of 24 with Jean Smart as the first lady and Gregory Itzin as President Logan was amazing -- almost as good as Season 2 (which I think is the best one yet). Last season flew off the rails towards the end but so far I've been enjoying this seventh day...we'll see how it pans out...

My parents are huuuge BSG fans and they were underwhelmed by last week's premiere.

"Che" is quite a feast. The roadshow hit Chicago this week, and I saw it Sunday. I'll refrain from any thoughts (until the comments on your review) so you can go in as fresh as possible. Benicio...so good. Make sure you see Part 2 as soon as possible after Part 1 as you can. That's the way to see it.

Yeah, Gregory Itzen! Did he get an Emmy for that? If not...CRIME.

I'm hearing BSG out...but they threw something at us last week that's not sitting well with me...yet. Still...great show overall.

Your comments re: BSG echo those of my parents.

Itzin WAS nominated for his work on 24.

The Emmy crime I'm most disgusted with is the two-year-in-a-row snubbing of Kyle Chandler on Friday Night Lights -- that's ridiculous.

I can't wait to see Che, but I will only watch it in its full, four-hour glory. No other way is acceptable to me. If I have to wait for the DVD then so be it.

Oh yeah.....not only no Chandler, but no Connie Britton or Jesse Plemons or Gaius Charles. Or really much of anything else. The Emmys are probably the worst award show of the bunch, all things considered. No really, let's give Law and Order one more statue.....

I agree. The general Emmy snubbing and viewer snubbing of FNL is pretty disgraceful.

actionman, I need your help. I follow your blog just so you know.

i'm doing a writing project where I compare scenarios to certain movies.

There is one scenario where i'm trying to think of the movie that perfectly goes with it. Here it is:

A couple breaks up. the male dumps the female who is not great looking, but after being dumped she becomes beautiful and desireable.

It can go both ways in regards to the female or male.

Any certain movie come to mind? I know this is random so I apologise.

SamiA -- I'm drawing a blank but will try to come up with a few films for you. If anyone else reading this blog can think of any examples fire away...

Nick, I have Pineapple Express. Watching it around 6:30 (my time) with a friend--possibly two friends--who has also wanted to watch it for a while.

Can't wait. I'll tell you what I thought about it in a comment on this post.

And for the record, am I the only one who loved Day Six of "24?" Day Five can't be beat (but don't fret, Nick; Day 2 is a close second for me), but I thougt Day Six was still excellent.

And I can't wait for "Lost" either. Keeps getting better and better.

"Pineapple Express" is hilarious so far!!!! Seriously. So freakin' hilarious.

Okay, for my money, it didn't live up to, say, "Tropic Thunder." But that doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a strong four stars. The performances were unbelievably good throughout, and reading your review from last September, I agree wholeheartedly about James Franco. Great role for him.

The action scenes were f'ing awesome and actually had to do with the plot. But they were played for comedy (dark comedy, but still).

So, loved the F out of it, man, as Dale would say. Glad you got on to me for not seeing it. :P

Glad you loved it. It gets better on repeated viewings.

SamiA -- Can't Buy Me Love with Dempsey -- doesn't that happen in there?

SamI -- Neil Labute's The Shape of Things, besides being a great little flick, toys with your thesis a bit. That'd be worth watching. I'm still thinking of titles for you...

SamiA said...

actionman, Thank you very much. Really appreciate all those titles. I was drawing blanks myself.

No problems. It's funny -- I have been trying to think of other films that fit your thesis and I can't come up with any. What others have you dug up? I will keep thinking, though.
