King Kong is undoubtedly my choice for best of 2005, but I'm glad to see New World here. A masterful film.

VERY happy to see Kingdom of Heaven on this list, especially in the top ten. It made mine, too. That movie gets some unwarranted hate from the critics' circles.

Also happy to see The Island included in some way. That, for me, is Bay's pinnacle achievement, so much so that, yes, I would label it a masterpiece. Transformers and Bad Boys come close, but I think he brought it all together in The Island. Criminal, how underrated that movie is.

I liked Kong a lot, especially the last section in NYC. But it was way too long; the theatrical release played like an extended director's cut. Naomi Watts was radiant in that film.

Kingdom of Heaven is a great film, especially the director's cut. If you liked the theatrical version, and haven't yet seen the director's cut, I IMPLORE you to buy it. It's a DIFFERENT film. Fox should be ashamed of themselves for not releasing the 3 hour version. It's the very best of ANY (Gladiator included) of the recent historical epics.

And yeah...The Island...flying jet-bikes. So damn cool. Scarjo's never been hotter, either.

Yeah, the director's cut KoH is a definitive film experience, especially in that genre. And others hated it. Don't know why.
