BEAM ME UP
J.J. Abrams has rebooted the Star Trek franchise in the same way that Christopher Nolan rebooted Batman and Martin Campbell rebooted Bond. Star Trek (A-) is a tight, two-hour blast of summer movie fun. The special effects are stunning, Chris Pine owns the role of Kirk, the entire cast is pretty much spotless, Abrams' direction is very energetic, and the cinematography is flat-out incredible. It's not perfect, but it fully succeeds in what it wants to do, and it does it with style, smarts, and a terrific sense of reverence for the old show. If you can't be entertained by this sort of thing, than I don't know what to tell ya.

Can't wait to see this...whenever I'm seeing it. I've been utterly swamped lately, with my first year of college winding up with the stress of finals, or I'd go out and see it. It may be today, it may be sometime this week. I dunno. Sometime. Heard amazing things all around.
Wow, good luck with the exams. Take a well-deserved breather and go enjoy this movie. It's pure fun.
I am going to try and sneak Wolverine in soon...but I have low expectations...
I had low expectations for Wolverine and loved it. Great fun, and a good start to the summer season. Not as campy as the unimpressive trailers are. Popcorn-munching action scenes (especially the INSANE last one). I think you'll love it. Though I'd be lying if I said it was perfect; the CGI is a tad off-kilter, and I think that Gambit had too much of a "bit part" (you'll know what I mean). But nevertheless, it's much more involving than you'd think from those hideous advertisements. They really did the movie an injustice.
Checked out Star Trek this weekend as well.
Very impressed for the most part.
The casting was spot on perfect in every single role. I'd single one or two out, but they were all so damn good.
J.J.'s direction gets a little loopy from time to time....some of the action scenes could have used a little less shaky-cam.
Using the 5 star rating system, I'd say it gets a solid 3 1/2. Perfectly entertaining summer movie fun.
