Typical. Love it.

Can't wait for June 24th. Just can't fucking wait. How the hell does Bay do it, Nick (Armageddon aside)?

Anyway, Transformers 2 should be better than the shitfest that was Terminator Salvation. Saw it tonight. Disgraceful. Even worse than Live Free or Die Hard (for me...I didn't like it, but surely didn't hate with the passion that you did). I gave it *1/2 or **, I think. Probably *1/2.

That seemed unclear. Live Free or Die Hard got a ** from me, for doing what it did well but being a complete cop-out at the same time. Basically, for me, it was well-made crap.

But Terminator wasn't even all that well made. It was dull for long stretches, except for an awesome finale action sequence, and Christian Bale looked utterly disinterested. His performance was close to awful.

And before you say it, no, the movie doesn't even deliver from a "jolt of action" standpoint. Basically, for me, it was lugubriously paced and really quite turgid. The action wasn't well-staged. Bay should've directed this. THEN the action would've been bigger and more bad ass (and, uh, you know, LOUDER, lol).

Armageddon is indeed asinine, but I had fun with it. And I have no problems admitting that. Bay does what Bay does, so you're either down with that or not. I am most certainly down.

If Terminator: Salvation is anything like the shitfest that was Live Free or Die Hard, then I'm gonna be royally pissed...

For me, Armageddon was Bay's nadir and basically a 150-minute trailer for a much better movie (Deep Impact, for instance, was incredibly similar and way better). I understand the "Bay-only-knows-explosions" thing as we've discussed it many a time, but I never even felt like Armageddon was a complete film and more like a string of scenes. I really really hated it. Luckily, he hasn't made an outright bad film since then, so...must be doing something right.

And T4 was worse, for me, than Live Free or Die Hard. Incredibly disappointing.

The only Bay movie that I don't whole-heartedly love is Pearl Harbor. Yes, it's got that truly sensational mid-movie battle/attack sequence, and the bombing raid at the end was well done, but the script was pitiful and the movie reeked of pretention. I love Bay because he's the LEAST pretentious action movie director out there.

If T4 is worse than Die Hard 4, then I'm in for a world of shit on Monday. I hated Live Free or Die Hard. Len Wiseman, McG, and Brett Ratner should be put out to pasture.

Well, yes, Wiseman, Ratner and McG are talent-suckers. Wiseman I'm unfamiliar with other than DH4, which was highly disappointing. And Ratner fucked up both the Rush Hour and X-Men series with their consecutive third films. T4 is just as bad as those two films, at least.
