DOUG LIMAN BEAMS UP JAKE GYLLENHAAL

Doug Liman, the director of SWINGERS, GO, THE BOURNE IDENTITY, MR. & MRS. SMITH, and next years sci-fi thriller JUMPER, will direct Jake Gyllenhaal in an untitled project for Dreamworks based around private space expeditions and lunar colonization. Busy author/screenwriter Mark Bowden (BLACK HAWK DOWN) is re-writing the project, based on Liman's earlier script he co-wrote with John Hamburg.

I've enjoyed Liman's movies, especially GO and THE BOURNE IDENTITY. And I happen to think that Gyllenhaal has proven, with his performances in MOONLIGHT MILE, DONNIE DARKO, BROKEBACK MOUNTIAN, JARHEAD, and ZODIAC, to be one of the best young actors currently working. And I love movies set in space. Let's hope this project is fast-tracked and hits the big screen soon.
