A TALE OF TWO ESCOBARS

On the heels of Joe Carnahan's labor of love project KILLING PABLO getting officially jump-started once again by producer Bob Yari (CRASH), writer Mark Bowden (BLACK HAWK DOWN), and actors Javier Bardem and Christian Bale, Variety has announced this morning that a rival biopic is now in the works.

Oliver Stone will be producing ESCOBAR, for director Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY, KING ARTHUR), from a screenplay by Bruce McKenna (BLOW, AMERICAN HISTORY X). What will separate the two movies, however, is that Stone and Fuqua will be working closely with Escobar's brother to make sure that everything is detail-perfect in the script. Casting is underway apparently.

Personally, I'm interested in both projects, and hope to see both of them on the big screen in the near future.
